Old Faithful Geyser
Yellowstone is the world's first national park. It is the place that inspired America to set aside special areas for the "benefit and enjoyment of the people," and it is the park that continues to inspire Americans every day. It is an amazing place - a 2.2 million acre retreat - offering more to experience than you can ever imagine.

WHAT TO DO:
There are many unique tours and activities to enhance your park experience, summer or winter, each in a different way.

Nature, nature and more nature!
Yellowstone is host to over 10,000 thermal features, including the world famous Old Faithful geyser.  North America's largest wild bison herd calls Yellowstone home, as do elk, deer, moose, wolves, bears, trumpeter swans, cut throat trout, and many more species of wildlife.

Wildlife watching:
Short ranger-led hikes are a good way to get out and learn about the park.  Or, make a deeper connection with the park with one of many Lodging and Learning Packages, which include multi-day stays and naturalist-led mini-expeditions into the secret side of Yellowstone.

Interpretive tours:
Discover all four types of geothermal features with the Firehole Basin Adventure near Old Faithful. Or join a knowledgable guide on a journey to Yellowstone's more familiar sights, including Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs, the famous Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon area, and Yellowstone Lake with the Yellowstone in a Day and Circle of Fire tours.  The Teton Vista Rendezvous, departing from Old Faithful, is a full day exploration through the southern portion of Yellowstone and neighboring Grand Teton National Park.  Or join the Picture-Perfect Photo Safari to capture some of Yellowstone's best-kept secrets.  The options are endless, and everything from two hour tours to 5 day packages are available.

Lake adventures:
For a unique outing in the Yellowstone Lake area, consider taking a guided Scenicruise on the lake. The mountain views are spectacular, and wildlife can often be spotted on the lakeshores.  Guided fishing trips are offered from Bridge Bay Marina, where rental boats are also an option.

Fishing:
Although preference is given to the animals in Yellowstone who fish for food, there are still many quality recreational fishing areas that can be enjoyed by our visitors.

Western Adventures:
Energize your pioneer spirit with a horseback ride, stagecoach ride, or old-fashioned entertainment and sizzling steaks at the Old West Cookout (via wagon or horseback).

Winter Wonder:
Frosty adventure awaits you in Yellowstone during the winter.  There are two inviting hotels open inside the park during the snowy season - the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel, accessible by car from the North entrance, and the award-winning Old Faithful Snow Lodge in the park's interior.  Mammoth Hot Springs is an ideal location if wolf watching in Lamar Valley is your dream.  From Mammoth, you can depart by snowmobile or snowcoach for Old Faithful and the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, where you can ski, snowshoe, or simply stroll the boardwalks and paths throughout the amazing geyser basin.

Where To Stay
For a complete Yellowstone experience, stay inside the park and enjoy tranquil evenings, where the only noises heard might be the roar of an erupting geyser, or waves melting into the lakeshore. There are many lodging options, from rustic western cabins to charming lodges to classic hotels. To assist you in planning your lodging, activities and dining visit www.TravelYellowstone.com.
